It is true

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.  Or in my case, the neighbors yard. This picture is off the property line.  We were in a drought and had not gotten rain in 22 plus days.  My lawn is crispy.  I walked in the back yard to fill the bird feeders and my footsteps broke the grass.  I have done everything to improve the lawn like my neighbors but it comes down to the fact that I have no decent top soil and the ground is sandy.  

The only way to correct this is bring in a ton of dirt and replant the whole yard.  That will not happen this year.

The flash demos show some really interesting functionality.  Apple may have changed the the way we look at mobile devices.  The design is exceptional.  We will have to wait until June to see if the customer experience with it is as good as it is hyped.

Lawn ornaments

As I was leaving my future neighborhood yesterday I noticed all the houses were being decorated. As I drove by the common area I saw these lifelike decorations. They were real though. I didn't get a picture of the large third one he did not feel like posing.

Painting Update

Yet another weekend of painting. The outside is now done (there are 2 areas that are just too dangerous so paint so I will be hiring someone else to do those).  The first floor is also complete.  This weekend we started the upstairs painting.  We painted all of the ceilings and all of the closets with at least one coat of paint.

    5 Ceiling white
    4.5 Manchester Tan
    1.5 Clinton Brown
    15 exterior house stain
    2 Bone White

Total: 29.5 gallons

Pushing Pigment

I have lost track of how many days we have been working at the new house.  All I can say is a lot !
Most of that time has been spent cleaning or painting.  Lately paint is winning.

Rome made not have been built in a day...but the columns that were in my house were removed in a hour.

Day 4-7

Well there was a lot of cleaning this week and more painting.  I think the easy way to explain it is every surface needs to be freshened up. But there was progress.

Day Three: Ceiling fun

Today we had a huge crew at the house.  My mother, father, brother in law and sister in law, Sue and I.
The goal for the day was to wash the walls and paint the first floor ceilings. The women took care of the walls.  Mike edged the entire first floor ceiling perimeter and I rolled the entire ceiling area.  My father primed the walls and ceiling in an upstairs room because the color that was on the walls was bright and we thought it might bleed through.
